My first order of Tailwind arrived today. I've been hearing a lot of positive things about this relatively new all in one liquid fuel / electrolyte / hydration product. I’ve tried other liquid fuels in the past, such as Hammer Perpetuem, but found its thick milkshake like “meal replacement” consistency off putting.
According to the company website: "...customers describe the flavors as “clean” and “light” with a mouth feel as close to water as you can get while still meeting your nutrition needs....Tailwind dissolves completely on contact with water and cleans up with a quick rinse. No film, no lingering aftertaste, no gooey mess."
For my first order I purchased two of the “stick pack bundles” at a cost of $11.25 for each bundle of 5.Tailwind is available in 5 flavors, but for this order I stuck with the unflavored which the company humorously calls “Naked,” so as to be testing the unadulterated product itself.
As I begin to test the product I do not intend to depend fully on it for my calorie needs. I'll still be carrying a few Hammer Gels (REVIEW), and solid foods such as chips (REVIEW), or Clif Bars (REVIEW), to say nothing of the occasional can of coke (REVIEW), however I think Tailwind might be another effective tool at my disposal, allowing me to take on calories while I drink without worrying about electrolyte levels too much.
Check back for a full review after i've logged some long runs utilizing this product.
