Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (review)

Last week I reviewed Dogfish Head Brewing's 90 Minute Imperial IPA. Today I picked up a 6 pack of its little brother - the 60 Minute IPA from my favorite twin-tiers beer store - The Jolly Farmer. I've yet to get my hands on a bottle of the much lauded 120 Minute IPA.

I'll cut to the chase by saying (to these taste buds) its not as good as the 90 Minute Imperial IPA, but I suppose that its to be expected. This continually hopped, mildly pale orange IPA with 6.0%AVB and 60IBUs was first released in 2003, after the 90 Minute Imperial IPA was already on the market and as such comes off a bit like a lower budgeted sequel. Taste is less dry, more hoppy (grass, citrus) and less malty than its predecessor. Dogfish Head is a premier East Coast brewery, but 60 Minute definitely skewers more toward the west coast style.

Its not a bad IPA, but nor is it anything special. Don't take my word for it, however, as it may be just to your liking.
