Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout (review)

Beer Review #68

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed 72 Imperial Chocolate Cream Stout, my first beer from Colorado's Breckenridge Brewery. A few days later the company sold out to InBev. Today's review of Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout, will be my final review of a Breckenridge beer. Its not like the taste of the beer suddenly changed. Its the principle. Independent breweries are good for the craft of beer making. Multi-national mega conglomerates with stockholders to answer to are not. InBev can keep gobbling up 'big independents' as long as they like. The number of breweries in the United States recently reached an all-time high. The craft beer movement won't be so easily undone. But i digress...

Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout  pours black with an almond brown head and substantial lacing on the glass. The aroma is nutty, with hints of roasted coffee bean, oatmeal and smokiness. Tastes of dark roasted malt, coffee, faint chocolate. Bitter finish. 5.0%ABV
