Creeker Double IPA (review)

Beer Review #110

Although I live only forty miles from Ithaca NY its been quite awhile since I reviewed anything put out by Ithaca Beer Company. Interestingly, the second and third (Country Pumpkin, Green Trail) beers I ever reviewed were made by IBC, as was my sixth (Ithaca Apricot Wheat), fourteenth (Cascazilla Red IPA), fifteenth (Embrr Rye Porter) and twenty-fifth (Cayuga Cruiser). A whopping eighty reviews later I'm back with Creeker Double IPA.

Creeker Double IPA layers 7 (including 3 during dry hopping) different kinds of hops on top of a foundation of 2-Row and Caravienne malts. But make no mistake, this pale amber hued IPA is an old fashioned hop-bomb.  Dry, bitter, 9.0ABV. The beer I am most reminded of is Ruination .

The aroma and the taste are on the same page, leaning heavily toward citrus (grapefruit, orange peel), with a substantial pine boomerang on the back end.
