Phase 8 comes in a 2.50lb tub that claims "New Bonus 25% Free." Whether or not the bonus contents are actually free, at around $20, the price is on target for what shoppers come to expect from big-box store purchases.
Each scoop of Phase 8 contains 5 grams of "Glutamine & Precursor," 5.6 grams of BCAAs. and 26 grams of protein. The selling point, however, seems to be the inclusion of 7 separate protein sources, each with a different rate of absorption, which in theory results in 8 hours of 'sustained-release." Or in other words, Phase 8 is meant to keep your muscles fed for hours, as opposed to simply causing a big spike immediately after consumption. If Phase 8 does all that it claims, then it is an excellent choice to get you through the work day, or as a bedtime snack to help you burn fat and build muscle while sleep - which is in fact when your body does most of its growing and recovering.
One scoop of the milk chocolate flavored product is noticeably sweeter the other products I've used recently, but its also quite creamy and tastes great. Although it only has 160 calories per serving you'll almost feel like you're having a decadent dessert.
The only negative worth noting is that Phase 8 doesn't seem to mix as easily with a spoon as some other products, though if you have a few extra moments to spare a simple blender will get the job done just fine.
