Weyerbacher Insanity (review)

Beer Review #126

For the Coup de Grace on my first 6 beer review day, I'm wrapping my lips around Insanity by Weyerbacher Brewing Company. Earlier this afternoon I tasted a bottle of their delicate Tarte Nouveau Sessionn Sour, but now i'm being dominated by their massive 11%ABV oak barrel aged Insanity Ale .

Pour like a motherfucker, and look forward to three or four fingers of churning, lingering, almond foam.

Shove your nose into the glass before the foam subsides (you've got all day) and look for vanilla and Southern Comfort like Huge Arker (review #88).

This is an amber colored beer with a thick head of frothy foam, and perhaps the best barrel aged beer I've had since Anderson Valley's Huge Arker.

Aroma. Look also for sweet toffee and caramel, brown sugar or molasses

Taste. Bourbon (without the alcohol burn) and vanilla, milky smooth caramel like a Werther's Original, or a Cowtail candy. Perhaps Weyerbacher's best creation yet.
