A Wrinkle In The Fabric Double IPA

Beer Review #182

Hey folks. Today we inch ever closer to written beer review #200 here on the blog with A Wrinkle In The Fabric Unfiltered Double India Pale Ale from the ever dependable brewers over at Southern Tier Brewing Co.

This second entry in the brewery's "Science Is The Art" collection weighs in at a respectable 8.5%ABV and "Around 80ibus" (their words, not mine), and utilizes Huell Melon & Mandarina Bavaria Hops for its aroma and bitterness.

This cloudy, unfiltered DIPA pours a brilliant shade of slightly-orange golden straw with a head of quickly dissipating fluffy white foam.

The aroma is primarily fruity in nature (orange, tangerine, honey). But if you don't like your beers sweet, don't let the aroma fool you, this brew is a bastion of bitterness. Look for substantial helpings of citrus peels with a well placed hint of pine lingering around the edges. Fresh cut grass emerges later, along with melon that morphs into bubble gum.
