Chocolate Cherry Bomb Imperial Stout (Review)

Beer Review #192

Hello, hello. Welcome back to Beer Porn & More. We're celebrating 400 subscribers on youtube today even as we inch ever closer to both our 200th written and 200th video reviews. For the complete index of all reviews CLICK HERE, OR click "Beer Review" at the top of this post OR click "Beer Reviews" in the tabs at the top pf this blog. Today's elixir of choice is Chocolate Cherry Bomb Imperial Stout from Ellicottville Brewing Co.

Weighing in at 8.2%ABV (on the bottle), or 8.5% (according to the website), this 'robust and malty' imperial stout is brewed with 'English hops, chocolate malt, Oregon sweet cherries, and love.' I can taste the love in any craft, but in this one its the cherries that seem to be a no-show.

Lack of cherries aside, this pitch black brew pours with a generous khaki head that lingers until the last drop. Chocolate comes across in the aroma, more sweetly than I expected, like Hershey's milk chocolate, with only just a hint of cherry tartness entering the mix.

The taste is chocolaty and smooth, with relatively low bitterness. Mouthfeel is both light and creamy, like whipped cream.

Deeper into the glass, i'm digging this beer a bit more now than I did as I recorded my video review a quarter hour ago. It is a fine imperial stout.
