Barrel Aged Unearthed Stout

Beer Review #202

What is pitch black, has dark khaki foam, gets aged in a barrel and clocks in at 7.5% ABV? The answer is Barrel Aged Unearthed Stout from Long Trail Brewing

The aforementioned khaki foam is stingy, but lingering, but is just herald to the smoky, barrel-charred aroma that follows.

In the taste department, look for hints of both coffee and chocolate, but mainly the smoky twang of charred oak, reminiscent of the liquid smoke in my mother's Swedish meatballs on Christmas eve.
