Charles Baxter: The Disappeared (Review)



Have you seen my SHORT FICTION REVIEW PLAYLIST? I did this review of The Disappeared by Charles Baxter in November 2018 and I'm pleased to see that it is finding an audience.

This short story set in Detroit in the decade before Y2X follows a Swedish businessman on his first visit to America. Hoping only to see the sights and get laid he encounters strange, wary Americans in an almost apocalyptic rust-belt city members of 'The Church of the Millennium," live without making any plans for a future that may or may not happen...
